My Neighbors Suck, But Your Neighbors Are Cool

Every wondered what house, alt, and screamo would sound like in one song – but like actually in a way that sounds good? I’ve got the artist for you. Two words. Your Neighbors.

Now, there isn’t much information about Your Neighbors online, but I can attempt to give ya’ll the jist based off of their witty yet self-deprecating Spotify bio. Some artists nowadays capitalize off of their genre-bending music, claiming that their music doesn’t fit one single category. Your Neighbors is different. They seem to strategically create music that fits into a certain genre and then completely switch genres upon each release. Their bio explicitly explains that they release music on a monthly basis with each release taking a total 180-turn from the last song. It’s awesome if you’re good at creating music in one genre, but to work in all genres and still sound good? Fucking crazy.

I urge you to listen to “Smacked” to understand what I mean about the cross-blending of different sounds under one song. I promise your jaw will drop to the floor because, well, mine did. After you’ve experienced that existential crisis, move on to “F.O.M.O.” for an upbeat indie-popish sound.

I like this music. I like it a lot. Let me know if you like it too.
